Description
How can you design a future in manufacturing where safety, creativity, and technology work together?
This hands-on program is designed for VCE VM students and explores innovation in advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, and enterprise. Through industry engagement, practical activities, and collaborative design challenges, students gain insights into modern manufacturing while building technical, problem-solving, and employability skills.
Available as a 3–6 day program, VM Work Skills (Manufacturing) immerses students in the manufacturing industry through workplace visits, safety investigations, digital design, automation, prototyping, and product development. Students explore manufacturing processes, quality control, emerging technologies, workplace responsibilities, and entrepreneurship while applying industry-standard tools to design, manufacture, and refine a product solution.
The program explicitly supports Work Related Skills outcomes, including planning and organisation, safe work practices, collaboration, communication, technology use, problem-solving, and the presentation of solutions in authentic workplace contexts. Students complete workplace documentation, develop a prototype, and pitch their ideas to an audience, building confidence and capability in real-world manufacturing environments.
