Description

Can robots make smarter energy decisions than humans?

In Smart Energy Robotics, students explore how coding, automation, and robotics can improve the way renewable energy systems operate. Working in teams, they design, build, and program robotic systems that respond to environmental data, using sensors, control algorithms, and real-time feedback to maximise performance.

Students learn how to write, test, and refine code that enables robots to make decisions, track changing conditions, and complete automated tasks. Through hands-on challenges, they investigate how robotics is used in industries such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and smart infrastructure.

The program culminates in an engineering challenge where students code and optimise a solar-tracking robot, testing its ability to respond to changing light conditions and collect energy efficiently. Combining coding, robotics, and systems thinking, students develop problem-solving skills while exploring how automation can support a more sustainable future.
