We are thrilled to share the exciting news from the Yarra Ranges Tech School Flipped Robotics program! This past Monday, April 29th, marked a significant milestone as students from Mount Lilydale Mercy College engaged in their inaugural competition.

For the past several weeks, these dedicated students have immersed themselves in the world of robotics, spending two hours per week at YRTS meticulously crafting VEX robots tailored for the VEX Over Under game. Tasked with designing robots capable of scoring points through various methods—be it by pushing game elements into designated goals, launching them across the field, or executing strategic endgame manoeuvres—our students demonstrated remarkable ingenuity and determination.

The competition itself was a testament to their hard work and dedication. Paired randomly with fellow competitors, our students showcased not only their technical prowess but also their invaluable teamwork skills. The goal, as always, was to outscore their opponents, and our students rose to the challenge with enthusiasm and resilience.

Since the program’s inception in February, we have witnessed a journey of growth and learning among our participants. From mastering the fundamentals of simple machines and electronic systems to honing their programming skills, our students have embraced every opportunity for intellectual and personal development. Above all, they have embraced the ethos of collaboration, understanding that true success in robotics is achieved through collective effort.

As we look ahead to the next chapter, we are thrilled that the Mount Lilydale Mercy students will continue their robotics journey with YRTS into a new season, featuring an exciting new game. Their commitment and passion serve as a shining example of what is possible within our program.

But our journey is far from over, and we invite you to join us. There are still openings available in the Flipped Robotics program, and we extend a warm invitation to educators and students alike to become part of this transformative experience. Together, let us unlock the boundless potential of robotics and inspire the next generation of innovators.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Flipped Robotics family.
