Description

How can maths help machines move smarter?

Maths in Motion is a high-energy robotics challenge where students apply geometry, logic, coding and data analysis to guide robots through complex mazes filled with real-world obstacles, sharp turns and strategic decision points.

Students develop algorithms that allow robots to navigate autonomously through physical and digital mazes. Using angles, distances and logical thinking, they plan efficient routes and refine their robot’s performance through testing and data collection. Along the way, students customise their robots with sensors, lights and sounds, then explore how automation and machine learning can help robots recognise signs, objects and changing conditions, similar to the systems used in autonomous vehicles.

The program culminates in a timed challenge, where teams compete to see which robot performs best under pressure, balancing logic, precision, creativity and control to keep their bot in motion.
