The 2023 Australian International Airshow not only celebrates aviation but also showcases the breadth and importance of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The airshow provides a unique platform to bring together commercial, general, private and sport aviation and education in one location.
Visitors saw an impressive display of aircraft from the Royal Australian Air Force, including the F-35 Lightning II, the Black Eagles Aerobatic Display Team from Korea, and the C-17A Globemaster III.
The airshow also features a range of educational programs and initiatives that bring together STEM and the arts. For example, the Youth Aviation Program includes workshops and activities that encourage creativity alongside scientific and technical skills. By promoting STEAM education, the airshow inspires the next generation of aviation professionals to think outside the box and develop innovative solutions to the challenges facing the industry.
One of the key STEM-focused exhibits at the airshow is the Aerospace Education Pavilion. Here, the Yarra Ranges Tech School was able to engage with industry suppliers and families through interactive displays that showcase the science and latest technologies behind aviation.
The pavilion also features a range of career displays, highlighting the many different pathways available for young people interested in pursuing a career in the aviation industry.
