‘Young Change Agents’ (YCA), in conjunction with Yarra Ranges Tech School, Telstra, Bendigo Tech School; KIOSC; and Monash Tech School and surrounding Tech Schools, are undertaking two ‘design sprints,’ with the goal to empower young people to explore problems caused by the Coronavirus, and pose innovative solutions.
The students work in small teams to apply the ‘Design Thinking’ process to answer the question: ‘how might we support those that have been impacted by the Coronavirus, now and in the future?’
Teams from Healesville High School and Upper Yarra Secondary College have now completed Sprint 1 via remote learning platforms. They proposed innovative ideas such as apps that help students in their remote learning, vetting and filtering of sensitive news, social gaming and support with health and fitness goals.
The submissions have been of exceptional quality, however, only 3 teams have progressed to the next Design Sprint. These successful students will now be closely mentored by YRTS, YCA and Telstra and will undertake a refining process of their initial concept.
Due to the high quality of ideas submitted, even groups that have not been chosen to progress to Sprint 2 have been given opportunities to develop their ideas by working closely with, and being supported by, Yarra Ranges Tech school and Industry Partners.
We are looking forward to seeing their final results!
