Description
Our Clean Energies program explores renewable energy technologies – solar, hydroelectricity, hydrogen, wind, and biofuels, learning how these integrate into effective energy systems. Working in groups, students design renewable energy projects using computer-aided design, 3D printers, and electrolysers, evaluating economic, social, and environmental impacts of their designs, considering the long-term impact of the plant and sustainable development goals. This hands-on approach allows them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges, such as energy storage and system efficiency. This program not only enhances their technical skills but also prepares them for future careers in the renewable energy sector.
The program is available as a 1- or 2-day version, aligned with the Year 9 and Year 10 curricula, as well as single day VCE Systems Engineering and Physics. For the greatest impact, it is recommended that students participate in both the Year 9 and Year 10 versions.
