Enrichment – Maths Maze

Maximum Number of Students

Duration

1 Day 9:30 – 2:30

Curriculum Areas

Year 7 – 10 Mathematics

Description

Put your maths and coding skills to the test in this fast-paced robotics challenge! In Maths Maze, students use geometry and logic to program robots through complex mazes – navigating twists, turns, and real-world obstacles with speed and precision. You’ll design clever algorithms, customise your robot with lights and sound effects, and train it using machine learning to recognise road signs, cars, and pedestrians. Every move counts as you refine your code and race against the clock to create the smartest, safest, and most responsive bot on the track. This hands-on program strengthens your spatial reasoning, critical thinking, and teamwork skills—all while showing how robotics, maths, and AI collide in today’s most exciting technologies.

Learning Outcomes

  • Use geometric reasoning to navigate robots through mazes using angles and distances.
  • Develop algorithms to control the robot’s movement and decisions
  • Collect and analyse performance data (speed, accuracy) to optimise maze solutions.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to integrate design features like lights and sound.
